Traditional news organizations have given way to the rise of internet journalism, and the trio of young bloggers must uncover a terrible conspiracy and disseminate information to their readers, all while risking their very lives. In the year 2039, Georgia and Shaun Mason, along with their friend Buffy (recognize any zombie-related names there?), are invited to cover Senator Ryman's presidential campaign in a world in which the Kellis-Amberlee virus has decimated the country's population and resources.

Not because it's inappropriate in any way, but because the themes it addresses are hard and sometimes the narrative is pretty dry. This is also not necessarily a young adult novel.

It's more of a novel about journalism, the right to information and free speech, and the personal and political ramifications of a wide-spreading disease.

There are some awesome action sequences, but no gratuitous feeding scenes, screaming teenagers, or B-horror movie cliches or gore. A high quality production. This book has zombies in it, but to call it a zombie or horror novel does it a disservice. Hopefully the second book will pick up the pace as all the ground work has now been placed. Overall i enjoyed the book, but it fell a little flat in a couple of areas. The bad 'guys' are a little too thin, but hopefully that will be explained in the next book. This is not a major issue however, as the author presents us with a good POV character. Apart from tapeworms taking over the body - there is little new. This book focuses on providing a foundation for the series, which means it is a little slow in some areas and there are a lot of 'science explaining'. The 'sleepwalkers' are mentioned throughout the book, and i enjoyed the fact that they were in the background and we concentrated on a single character through this book.

Which this book fails at (but i would assume will come to the fore front in book 2). The science is obviously a little far fetched, but the fact we have can support parasites and gene/dna manipulation/splicing this can turn into a fairly horrific scenario. Tapeworms taking over human bodies - good job I enjoy a good story and can suspend disbelief.
